So I ran it and I don't know what I am looking at lol! The gears wear a good used set to begin with just a heads up when you guys are judging it, I have no intentions of changing the pinion depth but would this pattern benefit from changing the backlash around?

The pinion looks too deep to me based on the sharpness of the lines on the drive side and the root heel-ish pattern of the coast side.

But, I'd bet it was that way before the spool too.

Backlash looks pretty good but that's just my opinion.

I have been running this used gear set for over a year now like this with no ill affect, should I keep rocking it till it does? I have a wheeling trip plane at the end of this month and it 200 miles 1 way........ I don't want to have a gear melt down!

I guess it will have to do, at least until I build a front 44 and can go deeper that 4.88s!

Pinion depth won't change with a carrier change. If it has run fine this long, don't worry about it and go beat on it.
