7" SINGLE DIN DVD Player for YJ!!

Hey Gents,
So I know a Jeep isn't the best vehicle to invest in an in-dash dvd player, but if that's what you're looking to do, and are having trouble to to the space in the cock pit, here is the solution: http://www.farenheitusa.com/fr2011/s...-TI-718NB.html

I wanted something a little extra for my Jeep. "pic 1". I was rocking an after market Kenwood that the previous owner had installed, but after buying new speakers and throwing in a sub i had in the garage, I felt the deck needed to be changed as well.

I realized a double din wouldn't fit "pic 2", and I needed to find a single din deck that had a drop down face due to the shape of the dash and gauge cluster. After a few hours of looking i finally found this product. It took a little bit of elbow grease being that I had to grind out the center plastic just a tad for the deck to fit through "pic 3'. I had to drill new holes in the bracket so it would line properly, but all that took about 5 minutes. It actually looks great on or off, and I have a touch screen 7" DVD player with a removable face (for obvious Jeep reasons) for about 200 bucks! "pic 4" "pic 5".

Hope this helps!!!
Ivan

A little more than 200, 257 for everything. I think this one is an updated model because mine was 199. You might shop around?

Looks nice, but after driving home in the rain the other day without my top, this may not be a good idea for me.

This just seems like a bad idea. Easily stolen and easily destroyed by water and mud.

1995 YJ. 2 inch BDS Spring lift. 1 inch shackle lift. 1.25 inch JKS Body Lift 33x12.5x15's. Engo 10,000 pound winch.

The easily stolen part in a misnomer. The detachable face plate, when used, is a great deterrent to theft. The reality is you are more likely to have your car vandalized (for entertainment purposes by kids) than have a stereo without the face plate on stolen.

The water and Mud issue is also not true for everyone. It really depends upon what the terrain and weather you wheel in. I'll most likely never be in a mud hole big enough to entirely drench the interior of my Jeep in mud. That said, it does rain here from time to time, but I usually have a bikini top on at a minimum. My seats get wet, but I've not had the dash get wet enough to fry my standard, detachable face, stereo. It's not a marine head unit, and it's lasted for 2 years now.

I like the idea of a large display simply based upon how hard it is to drive a stick and mess with changing stations on the radio or the wires and hassles of playing iTunes from my phone. I don't think the position of the screen - as the OP has it - will really add any ease of use, but it looks cool, and it would be nice to have a Bluetooth connection to my iPhone to play Pandora or my saved music - no cords for the win.

What happens when ur 6 foot tall passnger knees that thing when u hit a bump offroad lol. I've lost 2 regular CD players to that already, that thing wouldn't last long in my jeep. Looks nice tho...I wish I could put one in mine, it'd b nice for camping and long trips. Although my jeep doesn't really make me long trips.

Have you tried a radio with a remote? the jeep radio is a pain to adjust without it.

Nice but I leave the top off to much. I'd like to know about that shift knob

Waiting on my Rough Country lift to sag!

Might not be for everyone but I think its pretty cool. It would last pretty well in my jeep, I unfortunately almost always have the top on. And Bluetooth and all that would be pretty sweet.
