5.9L swap question???

Has anyone done a swap with a fuel injected 360? I got a great deal on one with tranny, T-case and f/r dana 60s! anyhow I was wondering if someone has done this swap, if so do you have a parts list of stuff you needed for this? I am trying to get everything in order before I jump into this project head first!

Any swap is possible! Do yourself a favor and try to think everything through because one things leads to another and another, the snowball effect. When you go for a complete engine/drive train change there can be a lot of unforeseen complications that have to be addressed. The Jeep will be down for a while and the expenses of the swap can be more expensive then you may think going in. Not as a deterrent but as a heads; do your homework, plan it all out, and go for it. Make sure you post pics as you go. Regards Glenno

Thanks for that posting I was actually reading on that yesterday morning before I posted the question. For some reason no matter how much I read I always have questions after reading the "how to's" to doing these kind of projects. And for some reason no one ever puts a parts list or price of the project, they just say it was expensive, or something like that!!!! Does anyone think perhaps the parts list would be the same or very similar to the 350 swap?????

glenno I was under the impression that if you took the entire drivetrain it would help in the long run with price and life of the drivetrain because it came like that from the factory? Am I wrong or....? you tell me I really don't know! Fo Realz!!

I used a 1977 GMC 4X4 pick up truck with a 350 ci V8 as a donor $300.00. I narrowed the axles myself. REAR axle - new rear axle shafts cut to fit, $300.00, brake rotors, new bearings, new calipers, $250.00. FRONT Axle - cut inner shafts and re-spline, new rotors, brake calipers, bearings, $300.00. STEERING - High steering, new passenger side steering knuckle, ball joints, pitman arm, and end links etc, $900.00. New spring perches front and rear $100.00. New drive shafts $500.00. New wheels and tires $1200.00 including full size spare. Motor mounts, new radiator, new shock towers, new brake lines, $500.00. NOVAK adapter to connect transmission to transfer case $550.00. While I was at it I rebuilt the transmission and installed a new output shaft $500.00 and transfer case $300.00. New headers $300.00, New exhaust system $600.00. These numbers are off the top of my head and there were many small purchases that added up to a lot of money that I can’t recall. For example gear lubes and an array of small detail parts. Plus countless hours of my time, which I thoroughly enjoyed most of. If you are installing full width axles you won’t have to endure the expense of narrowing. This project cost me $6,000.00 to date not including the original purchase price of my Jeep which was $4,000.00 and all the non-essential items I had to have. A SAM’s traction bar $300.00, Poison Spyder rocker knockers $300.00, Hurculiner, new seats, rear bumper, etc. When I’m all said and done I’ll have $15,000.00 into it or more. We all know a Jeep build is NEVER really done!

Considering all these costs is it worth it?
