Put the radiator back in today. I hooked up the lower hose had to cut two hoses and put splice in it. The upper one I am going to get flexable one from parts store.
I am going take exhaust manifolds and Y pipe out of a F150 for the exhaust. It will be cheaper then Mustang headers and having exhaust made for it. I am going to try and get it started tonight or tomorrow. Have some wiring to do might take long then I think.

I've seen articles in MMFF about swapping the Explorer heads into a Mustang and picking up some hp. What gets me, is that the Explorer 5.0 is only rated 210 or 215 hp, which is nowhere near other GT40 5.0s. I'm guessing it may have to do with the exhaust, and maybe emissions? Or does the explorer 5.0 make more power than advertised.

bummer you have to miss out on the mustang headers. Those manifolds are gonna restrict power a bit. The factory mustang headers were a strong point of the HO engine.

Just wondering, were you planning to mod the engine at all when you got it shoehorned into the YJ?

The Explorer comes with different grind on the cam that makes more torque.

Running the F150 manifolds will help on the low end which when I am wheelin will be best. Plus the later 80s and early 90s manifolds have pretty good flow. Plus they make aftermarket shorty headers I can replace them with later. I might mess with motor we will see how it runs stock for now.

I wired up the starter. And it works I am getting excited now. Listening to the V8 turn over in a Jeep. OH YEAH!!!! Tomorrow the computer and fuel pump is my job. I have pace myself or I get burnt out and don't even wanna look at it.

This is going to be so sweet when I get it going it is going to be the first time I have driven it since I put SOA lift 35 swampers and 302 V8. I pushed it outside the other day (to clean my garage out) and my neighbor was stareing. He is farmer so I know he was drooling.

Sounds like my wife is never going to have me home. I am ordering a Flowmaster for it. So it's going to sound sweet. Either 3 inch or 2.5 inch American Thunder. Probaly run a dump off the muffler. With any luck I be trying to break it on some trails this weekend. YEEEHAAAAA!!!
