Nice to know on the trans...gives me something to look for since I am not ready to start the swap yet. However, rest assured I will be looking in the u-pull-it yards as time goes on for the pieces on the list I see.

Thank you for you time, and I would greatly appreciate the measurements when you do get the time

Advance Adapters makes a adapter for AODE to the 231NP. Then can run auto if you want.

Sorry, must have not been clear. I have the ax-15 in the jeep, and am happy with that. When talking about the aod car, meant that it would have electronics that the computer doesnt care about.

Im pretty much interested in doing exactly what you are doing...just dont have the money to justify replacing the knocking engine till it quits for good.

Yeah I figured you did since you asked about bellhousing. I just thought would throw that idea out there for you or anyone else reading this.

1200 bucks but I still need exhuast. And I got to sell the old motor and other parts to score 700 bucks back.

Here are some more pics this morning after I got the motor bolted in.

I found some headers. Stock 5.0 Mustang headers will work but you need to teak the driverside with crowbar to clear slave cylinder.

Dude, that is just awesome. I can't believe how much room there is still. Even with exhaust in, it looks like there will be plenty of room.

That AX15 to Ford Bellhousing kit is pretty nice. It comes with a new pilot bearing for the small block. A new fitting for the slave so you can hook the Jeep line upto it. The adapter plate and throwout bearing shaft. I have the clutch all hooked up now. So tomorrow start working on the wiring and cooling. Figure out the trottle too.

I bought the AX15 bellhousing adapter kit for a Ford. I followed instructions and it was easy. Oh yeah you don't need a Mustang for the motor. Lincoln LSC, Town car, Crown Vic, Thunderbird, Couger, and Grand Marquis all used the 5.0 HO. They just didn't brag it up like Mustang. You want one out of 88-92 Ford car cause they came with forged pistons. This one came out of 90 LSC. I have to find headers for this one. Advance makes some but I wanna try some others first to see if they will work.
That sounds great !, i've always thought for V8 power why not a 5.0 !
just curious will this be street legal? or strickly off-road? what kind of paper work
do you need to pass smog emmisions? i live in california
I would like to do the same but still be a daily driver

I guess you would have to find out about emissions there. I don't know why you couldn't pass if you put cats on it. I live Iowa there are no emissions checks here. So I can drive it on the road no prob.

you have to go to the smog "referee" and they have to inspect the motor. then it also has to pass the sniffer and all the other bs.

Yeah I know about them. Iowa has less then 3 million people in the whole state. So we don't have them buggin us. Our biggest city Des Moines is only about 500,000 people with all it's suburbs and small cities. All we have here is corn, cows, and mud. The county I grew up in only had about 46k people in it. And it's considered one the big ones in Iowa. I bet it's top ten for amount of people living there. There are 99 countys in IOWA. So you can imagine how boring it is going across the state. But I have full coverage on my Mustang for 50 bucks a month. Of course the cost living is lower here too. And pay isn't as good as Cali. Gas is 1.99 a gal here.

Around here, the only stipulation that I'm aware of for engine swaps is that the new engine must be of the same model year as the vehicle or newer and meet the original emissions output of the engine.

So, for my 1995 YJ, I'd need a 1995 or newer V8 (conveniently, 1995 was the last year for the 5.0L in the Mustang GT) and run as clean as a 1995 GT did when new.

Hmm... this sounds like a project in the making...

The Ford Explorer came with a 5.0 too. Plus they came with the Cobra intake. Better then the Mustangs intake. They put 5.0 in those all the way upto 2000.
