bad bulb?
bad wire?
bad switch?
bad connection?

Just pull your jeep up to the computer and we'll take it from there.

That pretty much sums it up.

check the vacuum lines. Are you sure it's going into 4wd?

If you have the original vacuum disconnect assymbly for your year, the switch is part of the actuator.

Actually and I may be remembering this wrong I am sure someone will correct me if I am but an easier way to do it if you dont have a vehicle lift is to put it in 4wheel and put it in gear and then turn the engine off and jack up one side of the front. If it is in four wheel it should not turn. If it is not it four wheel it should turn. You should be able to turn it with your hands.

You need a second person... you need to pull the line off of the actuator (there are 2 separate lines that plug in) find the vac one one line and have the other person put the jeep in and out of 4x. The vac should switch from one line to the other... if it does then your actuator is junk. If it doesnt then you need to check out the switch at the transfer case.

First make sure your driveshaft doesn't spin free in the aforementioned 4wd test. Then do this:

When you spun the tire did the drive shaft spin? It should have. You specifically wanna spin the passenger side front since that's the side the cad dissconnects. Also what's it feel like when you move the swifter to 4 wheel

I will check the vacuum today and make sure it switches from one side to another when engaged in 4wd and make sure the driveshaft is spinning... all in all it goes in smooth from 2wd to 4wd so I know theres no issues there.. Thanks for the help and HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!

Follow this link too, a lot of helpful info about the 4x4 shift motor and vac system. I had this problem in my '93 YJ when I bought it and just replaced all the vac hoses with new ones. Also, discarded the plug on top of the NP231 and just plugged all four hoses directly into the nozzles on the t-case. This completely solved my problem.
