4wd wont stay in

this winter my 4wd started to slip out when im using it, so i put a posi lock on it thinkin it was the vacuum but when i pulled the vacuum motor off i turned the 4wd on and the vacuum seems fine its strong enough to push my hand with the fork. so i put the posi lock on anyway. it worked ok for like a day or so but now when i try it, it doesnt wanna go in at all or if it does, it seems to fall out when i turn. im thinkin its the gear that the fork moves is stripped or i have a bad bearing so my shaft is crooked so the gear cant slide on all the way on.
