4WD vac leak? engine related?

I was just reading an article on switching out YJ shafts for TJ shafts. It mentioned plugging the vac lines. When I installed the posi-lok I just cut the vac lines and did not pulg them. Is the 4wd vac unit seperate from the engine vac unit or does it all work off the engine? Should I plug theses lines for better enginr performance?

I have the posi lok and I plugged them. I just figured since they "suck" I didn't want anything getting in.

She's going to bury me in this thing.

91 4.0 stick. Posi Lok, Borla, 31s on steelies, Dem Bonz Shackles and lots of other junk on my junk.

Yes, plug them. You may have to re-tune your engine. Vac leaks will cause a lean condition...

But what do I know? I'm old.
