4WD problem like Argyle, Vacuum hose problem

Last night I was looking around for a solution to my inability to get my new used 95 YJ into 4WD. I found this forum and all the input to Argyle's problem which is like mine. Today I look and see the vacuum lines are in shreds. I went and bought vacuum tubing and attempted to repair this. My problem is I don't know where all the tubes go. I bought a Chiltons manual and it shows 3 tubes to the front axel. I only have two and two connections. If I connect directly to the manifold line to one of the front axel connectors I get the 4WD light on the dash all the time. Any other way I connect I get nothing. I know there are 4 tubes going back to the switch in the TC. Also I don't have the little valves on the vacuum line does this matter. Any help appreciated. I also bought the switch today but have not installed it because I believe the problem to be just the tubes.

Here is a link I found helpful.

My 4 wheel light was always on. The vacuum switch on the transfer case had a broken connection.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the link Moabster. This diagram is similar to the one in the Chilton book I bought. Shows three vacuum lines to the front axel. This is not the case with my 95 Wrangler. I thought of something today. Running the vacuum line from the manifold to a valve mounted under the dash and out to the diaphram on the front axel. When I supply a vacuum to one side of the diaphram everything works as normal. This would work like the mechanical version. I would have 2 wheel low and would not cost $200. I'll post if I do this and it works ok.

Sorry, I can't help too much, but I think I remember reading here that the newer YJ's only had two lines. Did you try searching the old posts?

No I did not look at the old forums but I can tell by looking at the vehicle that there are only 2 lines to the front axel. One of the biggest problems I am running into in trying to restore like it was orginally is the vacuum line itself. None of the dealers around here nor the auto parts stores carry the same hose that will fit on the switch in the TC. I can splice it using 1/8" ID tube. I just don't trust all those tubes to hold up. Plus no one has the little valves that go on the end of the vent tube. Probably not needed but not sure. What I want to do is find a valve to put under the dash and switch the vacuum on and off as needed. Can't seem to locate a valve that fits what I need. I'd like to find a push pull type but don't know where to find one.

Thanks for the reply lostboy, I was that close to doing that when I decided to try and go with a in dash mount vacuum switch. The one from the 79 model Wagoneer and Cherokee that was in the glove box. The jeep dealer had to order it and it was 60.00. Would have been a great fix but I ended up at a Pep Boys and found the TC switch and vacuum lines so I came home today and replaced all and everything works great.

Thanks for all the replies from everyone. Problem is resolved.
