4H works but 4L doesn't

Hey,

So last time i was on a trail with my buddies, i got stuck on a hill.
I was going up on 4H, i went back and put it on 4L and my buddies noticied that the front wheel wasn't spinning.

on 4H the light comes on and front wheels spin.
but on 4L light comes on but front wheels don't spin.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: forgot to mention that i can feel the 4L some how kicks in cause when i put it in 4L, and I let go of the clutch without gassing it the car goes.

Thank you

Do you still have the stock vacuum set up and stock vacuum lines?

Wrenching isn't the problem, it's the brains attached to the hands...unfortunately, I'm lacking some of the former so that's why I'm asking you guys!!

Have you tried 4H again since then to make sure it is still working? Maybe your vac disco died like so many do about the same time... Just a thought...

yes on the trail once 4L wasn't being helpful i put it back in 4H and spun my front tires and got me out.
I have been tracing the vacuum tubes all morning trying to see if anything got disconnected or anything but they all seem fine.

Ill be hitting the trails this weekend again ill test it out.

Sounds like a T-case problem not a vacuum problem If you have the vacuum available when you throw it into 4H, it is still available in 4L. If its getting cut off then I would check the vac switch at the T-case...and take it from there....just MHO

When in 4L do you get 2L or just no front engagement?

Do you have a body lift? Try shifting with the shift boot removed or loose.
