Anticanman
Don't want to sound like and idiot but how do I get to it? Remove these 4 bolts? or do I
THe easier fix is to remove the CAD vacuum motor from the axle, slide the collar over, and the reinstall the CAD motor upside down. This will lock the collar over in the engaged position, effectively making it a solid shaft.
The CAD motor would be the round part on right with the vacuum lines hooked to it, right?

Take the bolts off and it will look the same as in my picture minus one of the clips being behind the fork instead of in front of it. You'll see when you crack it.
If you want to spend the money, I'm not gonna stop you but this mod is free and 100 percent reversible and there are homemade versions of that link for under $10. Lots of writeups in the FAQ.

I'm going to tackle it tomorrow. Just want to make sure I didn't screw anything up. I guess I'll need to put a pan to catch the lube? Does this mod effect it anyway since it's a daily driver?
Thanks Man

It will make the front driveshaft spin and there may be slight vibrations if it isn't balanced.
If you get caught up with it I'll pm you my #

The only action needed to turn from 2wd to 4wd is now mechanical at the front yoke of the transfer case. No vacuum needed.

So I'm having a similar issue with a YJ that I just bought. I stumbled upon this thread while looking for a homemade "manual engage" system to build and install. If I use your fix, how will it perform during sharp turns on pavement? It should still drive like normal, right? If not, can you direct me to any good threads on installing a cable-driven front axle engaging system? Thanks

If you don't have a locker up front you can lock the E-clip to the other side of the fork and not have any issues while turning. It's cheaper than even the cable "posilock kits" that you can make at home. In fact, it only costs a little rtv to seal. With your '95 your driveshaft is probably already balanced so there shouldn't be any worries.

As long as its still an open differential there shouldn't be any drawbacks besides a possible driveline vibration
