4 cylinder with cold air intake... any noticed improvement?

Would I notice any significant change in acceleration or mpg in my 4 cylinder with a cold air intake? Is it worth 180 dollars?

Mpg might improve a bit because your wallet is lighter.

The 4 cylinders air and exhaust have been tuned to allow as much airflow as possible already, same for the 4.0. No point.

All about that unibody life.

No. If you want true cold air, do the 98 windstar intake modification and pull air from the cowl.

at the end of the day you'll still have the 2.5L, so you're kinda screwed either way lol.

I wouldn't go that far...it's by far the worst flowing engine I've owned. Nothing about it is tuned for flow, it's purely cheap manufacturing.

Then why, when one installs a higher flow intake, and a higher flowing exhaust, does the horsepower output not increase? That's because it's already as open and flowing as possible.

All about that unibody life.

Forget the CAI.... just boost it. It's been done before plus with the smaller engine you'll have room for an intercooler.

the intake and exhaust are designed to provide enough airflow to the engine as designed, they are not "already as open and flowing as possible"
if you modify the engine internals then modifications to the intake and exhaust help.

Do everything with a positive attitude, it won't always work but you'll piss enough people off to make it worthwhile.

the voices aren't real but they sure have good ideas.

heres some interesting reading.

IMHO any motor can be made to perform better if your willing to spend some money and do the work, but in the end a v8 swap will probably be cheaper and LOTS more fun.

You are pretty much at the top of your performance without a huge time and money investment.

Read this: http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticl...r/viewall.html

or search 4.0 engine swap on the YJ forums.
