4.3 vortec 700r4

i was wandering if any of you had heard of swaping a chevy 4.3 along with the 700r4 and transfer from a blazer to a wrangler. push buttons and all. would you need the expen$ive adapters or could it be done by just changing the drive line?

I personally wouldn't swap in an electronically controlled T-case .. but that's just me.

As far as swapping in that system, its quite popular with many Jeepers looking for a little more power, with little amount of headache involved.

I was considering that exact same swap at one point, but found a V8 instead for my Jeep. A friend of mine is on the hunt right now for a 4.3, 700r4 and t-case for his Cherokee .. once its found, we will be strippin' his beastie down, and plopping it in. Our plan is to use his stock front and rear axles, for the easier side of things.

Got a 4.3 and a 700r4 in a two wheel drive Blazer that my son totalled. Is your friend in Canada also?

Well ... I would sure hope so .. seein' as it would make things difficult for me to help him swap parts on his Jeep if he was in the states ..

My friend only lives a 15min drive north of my house .. in the same city.

Maybe you already know this, but 4WD and 2WD 700R4's have different tailshafts. If you buy tranny and transfer case together, obviously that's not a problem. Also, early model 700R4's (early 80's) weren't known for their longevity.

Too bad Naekid. The motor runs fine, but I haven't got time to mess with it.

its the same amount of work/headache to swap a 4.0L from a 2.5L, or a V6 or V8 from a either the 2.5L or 4.0 or 4.2L

the 4.3 is a good swap, but why not go for a V8?
if your already running a 6cyl, why put a v-6 in favor for a better tourquer engine the inline 6
inline engines produces more tourque because of linear motion

the 2.5L Block weighs 25 Lbs heavier than a 350 Chevy block
6's are even heavier than 350's
4.3's are nothing more than a 350 with the 2 Cyl's missing

hope this helps
