I can try that in the morning. Wont it suck oil? Or do i want to gut an old pvc valve and install it.

Could just gut an old valve, I don't think it'll suck oil - I've done it before. I'm just real curious why it isn't pulling out all the fumes. Is there enough fresh air getting into the other valve cover? Some of them used to have a filter inside the baffles looked kinda like a brillo pad. Maybe gunked up? Far as the PCV goes, it should rattle if its good. I used to just blow thru them with my mouth to test them. If there was any difficulty at all, just chuck it and get a fresh one for 3 bucks.

Thats how they used to do it anyway, fresh air went into one valve cover and the other cover had the PCV hooked straight into manifold vacuum. Dunno about the new engines tho, I'm outta date.

Now you have me thinking. THe other side has a hose going from the VC to the top on the intake opposite the injectors. I guess I should remove the hose off the VC and see what happens. didnt know that was a fresh air hose.
Pvc is brand new

This is what the original 4.3 looks like inside. Not sure if anything is cracked. Is it worth replaceing all gaskets and trying to fire it up or is there too much crap in there. Would it burn off the bad stuff and eventually run clean?.

I would give it a good cleaning in a tub full of solvent or whatever and see. Every time I ever heard an engine crack it was a real noticeable bang like a firecracker. Yours doen't actually look too bad, just neglected.

Thanks Pete!!
I pulled the hose off the drivers side and there was a grommet around the tube that looked like it was clogging it. Also it was pushed all the way down closing off the air flow.
Now something else,, there always is,,,,, Beleive it or not theres a tiny pin hole on the top of the valve cover I replaces next to the VC mounting screw closest to the fire wall. It seeps oil out, I put some exhaust sealent on it for now, probably going to pick up some JB weld

Bingo, you just found the prob I think.. Could just tack or braze the hole shut, but why not swap a cover off the old motor, do you still have it?

Heck yeah I am!!! The muffler cement did the trick and I wheeled it hard all day yesterday!.Now the front diff cover and axle seals are leaking. Today I replaced the hood latches, fender flares, fixed the OBA and hooked up the winch cables. ( forgot to do this and got stuck in a bog yesterday, good thing I had jumper cables)

Update:
Cracked the flex plate and had to replace it.

This noise gave it away

I have a spare

Question,
The green wire B8 that comes off the computer and should be going to the AC pump to increase idle when the AC comes on. Can I use that to raise the idle for the AC pump that is for OBA ?
Do I just splice it into the power wire and it sends 12V to the computer ?
