Got a bunch done today.
Finally hooked up the aux fuses after 3 months

Connection the torque wires today motivated me to do this.
Found the problem of no radio and clock power. Blew a inline fuse going to the battery
I really cant tell if the converter is working. Drove the highway around 60 and tried tappimg the brakes to see it the RPMs changed. it didnt.
I did notice that the jeep down shifts differently with the wires hookd up. Coming to a stop it goes fron 3rd to 2nd to first just as I come to a stop from crusing speed.
With the wires not hooked up it was more drawn out.
Flat towing tomorrow for 100 miles to a ride. Im all connected and ready to go

Just drove an hour on the highway and the OD works perfect. The floor pan is cool again.
Took the Jeep to a friends shop that is a real fabrication artest and all around Jeep builder. I had it measure for a full skid from the stock plate up to the front of the engine.
Heres My Jeep with Mikes Super six that he build. You have probably seen it in magazines

Yeah that does suck big time but it sounds like you're not too bad off with the spare parts you've found.

Wife said the Jeep was too tall and thats why it happened. Would you rather of had the Jeep be lower and our Son get a bumper in his hip?
The car only had the passenger side headlight smashed.
Im suprised the repair is moving so quicky. I was figuring a month or two considering Ive never removed a trans before. Then again ive never did a motor swap before this one either

No offense
Wife's full of chit
Higher up damages drive train
Lower down damages bodies and frame
I'll take higher up and have the drive train be junk
Rather then the tub and frame be wrecked and have broken and crunched bones
Big lift for the win!!!

Update time:
Trans is in
Moved the trans into place

Raised it up and installed it
Hey, you have to work with what you have
Had this problem again but i was ready

A friend stick welded this for me . Its on the transfercase

I think this is gasket number 5

The trans came out of a V8 and the touque converter numbers on the sticker were a few numbers off from the V6 converter.
I used the V8s converter. Probably should have switched it but i didnt. The trans feels like it shifts different but good.
Took it on the highway and easily reached 65+ mph and its super smooth with the new balanced front drive shaft
When I first drove it out of the garage after adding fluid and then put it in reverse, reverse wasent there. I then let it idle the reversed it it. It worked. I guess fluid didnt have the chance to get where it had to be.
So far things are good.
Check back for updates soon

You're running TBI on your 4.3, right?
Do you still have that 5.7? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that none of your wiring should change, save for maybe having to add some length on certain circuits. I have a friend who helps people TBI swap their 305's and 350's, and he uses the TBI systems from 4.3's without a problem. Is this still in the works?
I'd also like to say congrats on this entire project. I've spent the last 3 days reading it, and its always neat to see someone start with a limited knowledge and grow into a level of expertise. All it takes is some gumption. Lots of rookie mistakes and lots of learning from the school of hard knocks. Way to stick with it and see it through.

This is your new fuel pump relay, correct?
So you powered this relay with a hot on start/run wire, instead of using the computer to activate this relay?
And did you leave it this way, or eventually change it to have the computer power the relay?
I've got mine (V8, but same basic wiring as the V6) starting, but it quits running after 1-2 seconds, because the computer shuts off the fuel pump. Either I need to find out why or I need to wire it constant on when the key is on. I'd prefer not to have it that way though.
Does it shorten fuel pump life to have it powered on 100% of the time the key is on?
Thanks for any help

Not a mechanic but could that be a oil pressure sensor? If the computer doesn't get a signal it might shut it down after a couple seconds? Good luck! To the OP great thread !!
