4.2L weber conversion knocks so bad!
I recently installed a weber 32/36 carb on my rig and it stinky ritch at idle and sounds like marbles in acoffee can when i goose it! It also starves up hills. I have pacesetter headers, 21/4 exhaust no cat, ditched EGR, a quiet muffler and an electric fan. electric Fuel pump is 2.5-4.5lb. Ive tried the nutter mod and it did nothing. tried moving the timing from 12BTDC to 20BTDC. still no help. I even took the timing all the way back till it stumbles. so now its running hot too.
![]() I had the exact same style carb on my old 81 subaru and never had any trouble goin up the same hills or for that matter knocks and smells. Ive adjusted the carb by the weber instructions. HELP!

Try 8 degrees BTDC.
Not real familiar with Webers, but that's the timing suggested for the "Nutter bypass". |

thanks 4 the input. moved the timing to 8BTDC. the knocking stopped but now when im gettin up to speed it cuts out in the top end of 2nd and 3rd when its over 1/2 throttle...36" tires and stock gears kinda limit me to 1-3rd gear. maybe the fuel pump cant keep up? If anybody has a weber what kind of fuel pump are you using?
