4.0 throttle body swap
Hello all,
I am a new Yj owner and I have a couple of questions about some performance upgrades for the 4 banger. My main question is when swaping the throttle body, if you were wanting to put on a cold air intake, would you have to get the one designed for the 4.0? Also, would you be able to use a 4.0 throttle body spacer? Is this even a good upgrade? I want to do this and run borla exhaust and header with a high flow cat. I also wanted to run a jacobs ignition. My ultimate goal is good road performance with lift and 33x10.5's. is there anything that i am missing? Please tell me what you all think and if would be a good combo. THanks

yeah, you would have to run the 4.0L intakes. Or, what I would do, is fab up your own. You will save a TON of money and you will see the same kind of gains. A TB spacer is supposed to add more torque I think. I'm not sure how they work, hopefully somebody can chime in.
For your ignition I would just upgrade your plugs (truck plugs) and wires (8mm accel)

a throttle body spacer claims to add overall torque but i've used them and seen nothing and i know people that have used them and seen no results i think it's just a waste of money. just remember when you suck in more air it doesn't do you any good if you can't get rid of all the extra air so go for some type of header back exhaust. to see the real gains that'll help you. just my $.02

I've had great luck with my throttle body spacer. I installed the AirAid 1" spacer that's got what they call the "Helix-bore" technology. Basically what it is is a 1" block of aircraft aluminum that sits between the throttle body and the intake manifold. The inside of the TB spacer has these grooves cut in the sides, causing the air to swirl in a vortex, kinda like a tornado. This causes more air to get sucked in and more air pressure as well; thus causing a better air/fuel ratio in the combustion chamber. I speak for myself and myself only on this, but when I lay on the gas, the back end of my Jeep sits down, the front end rears up, and off I go. It's really noticeable and feel that my engine has improved a great deal by adding that and the 60MM wide-bore TB. That's my $.02. HTH.
