3rd gen vortec engine with stock gauge

ive got a question for you guys that have done genIII sbc swaps into your yjs. for those of you who retained stock gauges how did you do it with the oil pressure and temperature gauge? any diagrams would be nice.

thanks,
Erik

just put the stock sending units in the sbc.

I myself would not want to run the stock gauges as mine were not accurate at all. I just put autometer gauges in behind the bezel, looks stock and you know its accurate.

:edit: sorry Im being ignant, computer controlled lol so my above advice would not work

wait, no it should work like that..... because you could use (2) temp sensors, one for the computer, one for your gauge. I actually have my jeep set like that and its EFI...granted its megasquirt and lets you program it however you want. And for the oil pressure, your computer does not monitor that.

hmm...let me ponder on this.... if I can't think of anything I'll ask my dad in the morning. He does the calibration on cars so knows what the computer sees

did a quick search and the PCM does monitor oil pressure.

as for the plug on the pan it would have to be oil temp

i am installing a LS 1 in my 87 wrangler. used the jeep oil sender on the bypass fitting by the filter, just drilled and taped it to 1/8 pipe thread and screwed it in there, used the stock jeep wire, on the pass side head, there is a plug toward the back, just taped it to 1/4 pipe thread and installed the stock jeep temp sender there, using stock jeep wirte. still used all LS1 senders for the computer.

if you tap real slow and put lots of grease on the tap, turn a couple of turns and pull back out, wipe off filings put new grease and do it a little more, you get no filing in block, i have done this on several without any problems.
