3rd Brake Light

WARNING>>>>NOOB QUESTION<<<<<<WARNING

I am thinking about losing the butt-ugly 3rd brake light on my YJ. I see alot of pics with them gone. Anyone get any heat from the law about it. I follow the laws for the most part but man, that light has got to go if I can get away with it.

Honestly, no one will ever notice it being gone. Not all vehicles came standard with a 3rd brake light when YJ's were being made, and I'm pretty sure they were not legally standard until later years. I know mine is lacking in the light department and passes inspection just fine. All I have is rear flush mounts, a backup light, and a single LED license plate light. That is soon to change though =]

YMMV (Your mileage may vary)

I don't think removing the 3rd brake light would get you any heat from the law.

as long as you keep the original two, you should be fine IMO.

plenty of other vehicles only have two...my YJ only has two..

I would however, make the tail lights/break lights brighter. The 3rd rear angle high light is really the only decent break light on a jeep, everything else is super dim.
