35x1250's on stock axles?

I have a 95 with a 30 in the front and 35, I've heard here and there that if I was to go any higher than 33's I could snap a shaft? And I have these 35's that I want to install. Advice?

95 YJ 2.5 4 banger with 4"rancho lift on top of 33x12.5/15

Breaking a shaft is an easy fix. Breaking a carrier isn't.

Check out this THREAD and you decide.
I'm running 35's on my turdy 5 right now...but I'm scared haha.
Since you have the 2.5L gearing/power may be an issue.

Cheers

I blew up the spiders in my D35 with 33's. I also lost 5th gear and spent a lot of time between 3rd and 4th on flat ground. Upgrade to the 8.8 and regear if your planning on DDing the 2.5 or upgrade to a V6 or 8 and keep the stock gearing.

I,too, like to live dangerously.

But in all seriousness you can run them if your conservative on the trail but you'll start to notice they like to take out other parts than just the rear end. (particularly rough on the steering gear and rod ends.) Also, it'll be slow as a turd which doesn't bother me but may be an issue for some. All in all, most people avoid them on a stock drivetrain as they tend to be gremlins that seems to wear out/break everything faster. But can you run them? yes and you can join me and sparrows in the 35's on 35's club

Gearing is now going to be a real serious issue, not to mention if it's a manual. Clutch is going to have a good amount of stress on it, especially since you are going to have to slip it a lot to get going without stalling. You will likely have to go with 5.71 gears which won't fit in the 35. Not sure about the 30.

All about that unibody life.

I'm about to run 30's on my jeep, I dont offroad because my jeep has 217K on a four banger, (also broke college student, and not too much public land in CT) its all original, is it an awful idea to run 30's?

30's will be fine. Factory tire size is ~28", I've ran 29's no problems, most run 31's without issue.

X 2 , although I do have a 8.8 waiting in the wings . I also am running a 4.0 w/ 4 cyl axels (4.10 gears ) . If you have open diffs it s a little easer to test fait . I have found 4 high to pretty much be useless too , by the way .

I have been runnig 35s on a Dana 35 for over 10 years I dont wheel it that hard just some trails and mud. It keep blowing the spider gears with 33s. Long story short the spider gears where chiped whan I opened it to do the 4.56s could not find any so I put in a lockright, back in 2000. Ran it as a DD till 2005 locked front and back. Im usually pretty lucky and did not give much thought till I joined this site. I plan on getting an 8.8 soon.

I ran 31's for 2 years before I went to 33's and no issues with the 31's at all...blew the spiders in under 6 months with 33's

Get one with Posi and the disk brakes...one of the best upgrades I've done next to the 4.3L and Ax-15
