yeah im not sure why this was like this. the seal did look like it was alittle crocked but not enough to make that big of a gap. i will put the new seal in tomorrow and see what it looks like.

It isn't like that. I think the parts store gave me the wrong starter ( auto vs manual) the Bendix was only engaging half way into the ring gear teeth. The original 350 starter is right bit is to big. It is into the header. So i bought a 4.3 starter but somewhere something is different

Its different between auto and manual? I compared my flexplate to the flywheel that I will be using and they were the same exact tooth count and size. Offset could be different though?

EDIT: Just re-read and saw that you used a 4.3 starter. What headers are you running where they hit? I used the Hedman shorty headers and I dont have any issues with starter or frame rail.

They will be the same tooth. Either 153 or 168. ( mines168) the starters, there is a difference between the twos nose lengths. And my starter was under the header flange.. I have a starter ordered that is shorter in overall length. Will have to wait and see how it fits once it comes in

got a good bit done tonight. got new ring gear put on, installed the flywheel and clutch, installed the trans. put the skid plate back up with new bolts. i had a nice surprise when i went to put the rear dshaft back up. i accidentally bumped the one cap and it fell off and needles went everywhere!!! once i got that put back together and up i changed directions and started working on the rats nest of wires under the dash. i have a lot to do still but it is getting cleaned up.

got some work done today on the jeep. i got the t case shifter in and working... what a PITA that was!! it looks like poop right now but once the cover is on, u will never see it. and i got my front bumper back on. it looks mean again the last thing i did today was fix some more wiring. the PO really didnt believe in butt splice connectors. EVERYTHING is just twisted together and electrical taped so i went through and put splices in. it solved my one speaker pod acting up.

the jeep is almost ready to go get exhaust! today i worked on getting the tranny hump cover in. welding sheet metal isnt easy! i got a sheet cut and welded in, i still need to get a shifter boot and put on but that can wait. the only thing left to do before exhaust is to put a 45 in at the slave cyl to get the line up out of the way. i want to keep the exhaust tucked up as tight as possible.( im thinking now i should have went with headers that exited at a 45 out the back) i had to put the top back on today, its a new record made it to December with the top off also for anyone who is interested here are some pics of the M.O.R.E. roll cage installed.

i went and picked the jeep up last night from the exhaust shop. im very pleased with the work and for only $300!! i took it for a drive today, its first actual drive, the temp was fine just driving but when i got on it, the temp started climbing. i think i may need to drop to a 180 tstat. im not sure what others have but it almost feels like 4.10 gears are almost too deep now like im in 5th gear in no time. i really need to get my speedo working tho.
