350 ecu question

87 350 tbi, if i wanna keep manual do i need to get a computer that had manual tranny inside of the auto tranny computer that came with the 350 i have

I was gonna just grab 87 out of the 2500 and pull me gm nv3500

From an 87 it really shouldnt matter. Look at this web site:

with an 87 you should be fine... from what I remember, the ECU doesn't get any critical info from the trans (possibly none at all, I'm trying to forget)... there's a signal FROM the ECU for the auto to lock the TCC (if it's a 700r4). the only signal I recall the ECU getting from anywhere near the trans (but it's not the trans) is the VSS signal coming form the tail of the transfer case and the NSS from the shifter... the VSS signal will be the same whether auto or manual, and the NSS can just be bypassed.
