35's stock gears

I want to do my lift and mount up my 35's. Stock gears are 3.07 with i6. Will regear soon but can I drive it like a 3 or 4 speed in the meantime or will it put a lot of wear on clutch/tranny?

I ran my 35's for about a month with stock gears. The big difference is I had 4.10's instead of 3.07's. Its going to be a strain but would work temporarily. I went with an 8.8 swap and 4.88's. I highly recommend that setup. You could easily get away with 4.56's since you have the 4.0l. I say go for it. It will be a dog until you regear though.

It will be an old dog past it's prime...are you going to be keeping the D35 or upgrading the axle too?

I had 3:07 gears and the 4.0L at one time in history... add the 35's and you will have a real dog on your hands. Forget trying to wheel it, you will be doing good to drive it on pavement without killing your clutch. I went with the 8.8 and 4:56 gears.... wish I had gone 4:88.

Save enough to regear the rear axle at the same time, then don't use 4wd until you save more and regear the front to match. 4.88 is what you want, for sure.

Dang...was afraId of that. My plan is to pick up an 8.8 with stock 4.10s and regear front to match...figure I can save the expense of regearing the rear.

In any case, it sounds like I need to take care of rear axle and gearing before I mount up the big 35s.

You could slap the 8.8 with 4:10 under the Jeep and then just drive in 2wd until you have the coin to regear both axles.

4:10's with 35's isn't great, but its a World better than 3:07's.
