3"body lift 1.5" spring lift leaves shifters to low
I recently purchased an 87 wrangler . I replaced springs with black diamond 1.5" spring lift kit ,the jeep already had a 3" body lift. My problem is the shifters are to low in the hole .is there a fix or do I modify the shifters and the floor?

Get rid of the 3" body lift. Go with something more like a 1" Just my opinion...

if you're set on keeping the BL, you probably need to cut your shifters and weld a piece of steel in there, if you want it close to stock length, u need to extend them 3" also you will have to either cut the floors around the shifters or do what i did and take a BFH to it to make it in all gears. if you cut and weld, make sure they are strong! nothing would be worse than a shifter coming off in your hand

Did you just buy a Black Diamond 1.5" new? Because those kits are just about $100 difference and then you could have ditched the 3" bl and gone with a 1" bl.
I would also think that you are going to have to extend your shifters maybe do a MML to help some. I would seriously think about cutting down on some bl though. It is easier to brake body mounting bolt and your COG is alot higher.

Your only option is to extend the stick or hunt for an aftermaket one that's longer for the body lift. If no one makes one sombody could probably make some money here. Just make screw on extentions for the 3in body lift.

well understandable, it is hard to pass up a good deal. What size tires are you running? Do you need 4.5" of lift? Did you install the suspension lift? I would think that body lift would be less work than the suspension. And that removing that body lift will be easier than fabing up some longer shifters.

you can extend the shifter fairly easy with parts form the hardware store. I used some 3/8 threaded rod and 2 inch connectors works perfectly for a 2 inch extension. pair of bolt cutters and a couple of minutes on the grinding wheel and my shifters were both 2" taller.
its not pretty but it works great. little blue loctitie and your golden.

I had an 88 YJ that had a Rancho 1 1/2" suspension lift and a Performance products 3" body lift. I left the tasmission shifter as it was but I modified the transfer case shifter. I worked at a machine shop so I was able to drill out a shifter arm I pulled out of a Bronco in a junkyard. After I cut the end off and drilled it out I tapped it and threaded it onto the stub of the transfercase shifter. I did have to cut out the floor just a little so I had full range of motion for shifting. If this sounds like more than you want to do here is what I did on my 91 YJ. The 91 is automatic so all I had to do is extend the transfercase shifter. I went to a hdware store and bought a 12" rod that was 3/8 16 thread and one of those threaded conectors that look like a 3" long nut. I connected the rod to the transfercase shifter and then cut a piece of new fuel hose and slid it over the rod to hide the threads. The knob screws right on. You can pull the shift boot up over the connector to hide it if you want to.

I solved the problem I cut the floor back for shifter and modified the transfer case shifter angle and added to the length of it and fabricated a new floor cover out of aluminium diamond plate,so it even looks good. thank you all for the advice ,Im sure you'll be hearing from me again.

while i also a gree that a 3" BL tends to look like crap, I do not understand most peoples distain for 2" BLs. I run a 2" on my YJ and have never had a single problem with it. it doesnt look bad at all, and when used in conjuunction with a quality suspension lift, its a great way to get some extra room for bigger tires while keeping a relatively low COG.
