3/4 ton axle swap has begun!!!!
well i aired my tires down and took top off so i could get jeep in the garage and started tearing it apart this morning!!! made good progress front axle is a dana 44 high pinion, hi steer, 8 lug and rear is sterling 10.25. i am going to gear the axles 513 or 538...havent decided yet and might end up stickin with my 37s for now. only prob is they are for a 15" rim and dont know how it would look with a 15x10 with 3" backspacing????? i was told i could run 4" backspacing but would have to do some grinding....what ya think?

test fitting the 44

looks good man! what springs you running? I am going to be running pretty much the same setup, HP44/D60 & 37's

highrolrcustoms 09-30-2010 08:44 AM

im gona keep running my 2.5" pro comp springs

How did your 2.5L do with the 37's with 4.10 gears? I will be doing my SOA soon and I have the 2.5L and I just bought new axles last week D44/AMC 20 and 4.88's are the lowest I can go I think. I am going with a 37x13 bogger. So I was wondering how you liked you old set up with your gears?

highrolrcustoms 09-30-2010 02:16 PM

ddt3.....never used 4th or 5th gear. it pulled the tires pretty good in 3rd. but deff needed gears...i just didnt want to spend money on the stock axles being 488 was the max gear i could run. with the new axles i am going to run 513s or 538s. alot depends on what you want to do with the jeep. street jeep just to cruise around i think you will be fine with the 410.. but if you want to offroad some i would deff upgrade to 488.

made a little progress today.....mainly on the sterling...tore it apart and cut off all the brackets and moved it into place so see how driveshaft would look......if i keep it in the stock location it looks like i will have to shorten my rear looking at all my options.......I NEED OPINIONS ON......stretching the rear 6"s while im at it??????? if i do the stretch i am going to cut my hangers and move them back because i want to keep the 2.5" lift springs....also should i try and fab hanger or somthing to my rear bumper or just by a BTF stretch kit??? all opinions welcome!!!!!!!!

rlfa83 09-30-2010 08:53 PM

The check's in route man! should help you get some more stuff for the build.
I personally would figure out how to stretch it a couple inches to clear your current drive shaft - Im not into the cutting up of the rear 1/4's. But thats just me!

highrolrcustoms 10-03-2010 06:06 PM

so i decided that i am gona comp cut the rear and stretch it......already sold rear bumper and fender now my question is do i order the btf rear bumper kit or fab up my own?? what do you recommend to fab up the bumper to get about 6" stretch. i am using the springs i have and relocating the front spring mount. i was gona use the way back hangers from ruff stuff but not sure what to attatch it to?? 3x4 square? any ideas or pics??

got my wheels in today... 15x8 allied 8x6.5 on 3.5" backspacing going to add beadlocks this week. went with a 8" rim due to holding a better bead on a 13.50....and im going to scuff the chome and paint black

and here is the Blue Torch Rear Stretch Kit....they forgot to send me the frame plates so gotta wait for them

Bumper tacked in place....
