Sorry , was lookin back and realized I had not updated in a while !! I got my wife and daughter to help me put the transmission/transfer case/ skid plate back into the frame and bolted up !!! I have the motor in place and all bolted together and now am working on making everything work/fit and I have installed the stock auxillary cooling fan from Mercedes infront of A/C condenser; then installed condenser; then the STOCK ( but brand new OMIX ADA radiator ) and HAYES ELECTRIC COOLING FAN AND CONTROL KIT !!

THERE IS NO ROOM INFRONT OF THE JEEP FOR THE MERCEDES STOCK OIL COOLER ( WHICH I WAS TOLD BY THE MERCEDES FORUM " DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT , IT IS THE KEY TO 3/4 OF A MILLION MILES ON THE MOTOR "
So for now I removed the bolt holding it to the A/C compressor and moved it to the side by the brake master cylinder ! And will add an auxillary cooler fan for it where the JEEP charcoal canister/ computer used to be ( since neither are needed any more ).

I have connected the heater hoses ( you need a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter for the heater hose that goes in above the alternator !! BUT , the other that connects by the oil filter ( yes , It drapes over the valve cover was the same size but, a real PITA to get it connected in such tight confines between oil filter housing and fuel injection pump !! ( may have been easier to connect while it was out of the chassis !!

Power steering for the HIGH PRESSURE side ( everyone is brazing it !! ) ..... I just cut the stock JEEP tip and put the mercedes tip and double flared ( with a flaring tool set ) ...... piece of cake !!!

As far as the upper radiator hose .... I took a combination of stock mercedes and stock jeep and in the middle I installed the piece of pipe I made to hold my cooling fan control probe !! I did the same for the Lower radiator hose !!!

O.K. !! We built the motor mounts yesterday and ( good god ; the rest of the JEEP will fall apart and NOTHIN will be left , BUT THE MOTOR MOUNTS will still be there waiting for a new engine !! LOL They are stout !!

Dropped the tank ; removed the factory pump (and gonna swap the delivery and return lines around ) they are the same size and remove the stock fuel filter ( by the rear driver tire ) cause now it is gonna be a return line !!!

I have a couple pics to show some stuff mostly just that there is plenty of room between radiator and engine !!

Stay tuned many more pics will be posted SOON !!!

Mercedes tip on JEEP high pressure hose after double flaring the pipe !!

Sure is gonna be tight on the exhaust to battery !!

I wish I was physically able to help them as much as they are helping me !! My back won't let me !!

I also have my diesel mechanic buddy coming over today to help me sort thru the vacuum hoses and wires and whether or not I need the 4.0L computer ( I don't think I do ; but I am human and have been wrong before ) !!

I may have her running by the end of the weekend !!!

Are using the TJ radiator? Is it big enough for a big diesel? I had a Isuzu diesel and it could get hot real fast. Looks like you plenty of room to put a deeper (bigger) rad in it. Just a thought. Love it and you can't imagine how many of us are jealous of you. I know I'm beside myself.....

Very interested because as i've already said, can get those cars around here cheap.

Does anyone sell performance upgrades for the those?..like better intercooler systems, better flowing intake housings..etc?

I know on my F250 7.3 there is a TON of good aftermarket upgrades for better performance and MPG.

Keep up the good work my freind!

After this is all over and done..i would think the effort and time put into this thread would earn a free forum membership in my opinion

Thank you for the KUDOS ..... I am just an ordinary average guy ; who if you have read the posts; just happens to be totally disabled ( 70 % paralyzed from left knee down ; but I wear a prosthetic on that leg so I don't fall and break my NECK !!! I just have some EXTRA ORDINARY friends !!!

I am using an OMIX ADA " new " stock replacement radiator out of a 94 YJ !!!
I think my original radiator would have done just fine only had 98,000 miles on it !!!

These cars come Turbocharged ; but not intercooled !! I have heard of an intercooler helping " some " but others have just put the new " variable geometry turbos " on them and gotten much better numbers ; they are " BETTER " known for there longevity and not for their NECK TWISTING POWER !!!

Ahhh ok.
I always thought the intercoolers also helped the engine last longer because it feeds the engine cooler air.

Can't wait to see more pics!

i don't know about these mercedes engines but i know old ford 6.9's will run on just about anything that will burn if you are interested in the fuel saver aspect. i know a guy that is an A-tech at a local ford dealer, he strains out the chunks and puts used automatic tranny fluid in his. he has put twenty thousand on it and never payed for fuel. just an idea but free fuel is free fuel.

I would of thought that too,until i seen 3 guys do the same thing,used oil,,trans fluid..etc
One guy local is on disability from the military, had a 55 gallon drum in the back of a 84 F250 6.9.
Never pays for fuel,he said he does the same thing, just filters old engine oil and puts it in there.
