I don't think you'll have any issues if this is a daily driver.
You already know if it leaks...carry extra of that.
Carry spare oil, coolant, hose clamps, a few tools, tire plug kit, hand pump if no oba.
Change the oil, trans fluid, transfer case fluid, and diff fluids before the trip.
Ear plugs might be a good idea if you have a soft top.

I've found headphones for my Iphone make listening to music a lot nicer on a long trip, cuts all the wind flap (softtop) and other noises jeeps are known for. I always start the day at about 3:00AM, after the drunks are home in bed or have already crashed, this allows me to stop early and miss a lot of the heat of the day. I envy you, I love driving this beautiful country watching the sun come up....even in a jeep.
Be careful using headphones while driving. Pretty disorienting trying to figure out if there is something wrong if you cant hear what is around you.
Insurance and vehicle registration in a plastic bag, maybe a couple hundo if you haven't already put it into the jeep.
Rich, I just had a friend that drove his YJ from Detroit to Corpus Christe. Another drove his from Detroit to Alaska. It's just a matter of prepping and making sure your mainenance is done. Post up if you are doing a drive, People here love following "epic" trips in the YJ.
i think about this type of trip all the time. then i read the comments in here again and it makes me wonder why some people buy a jeep if they aren;t going to drive them on these types of trips? why buy a vehicle you think won't make a trip when you need it to or are not comfortable in to make that type of trip? i drive mine all over texas and its a carb'd model. i would not hesitate to drive it to north carolina or back to cali, if thats where i had to go.
once the kids move off to college, we are going back to having only two door wranglers. the wife is already talking of selling her jku and buying two tj or a tj and a small pick up (for hauling the lawn mower and stuff)
I don't feel like working on anything, at this time.
You should PM him. He's been down there for a few months now and been having heap problems. His toy became a DD and I have been moral support for him with the heap on some issues that he has had with the Jeep. I didnt realize you were so close to him or I would have tried to get him in touch with you sooner.
