2.5L more HP?

Hello, I have a 92 YJ with the 2.5L and was doing some reading an saw that if I add a a throttle body and spacer off a cherokee and and a cold air intake I could boost up the HP a tad. So what would I look for in the parts so I know they would work

Put your money towards a regear...

But if you must... a 4.0 tb is a good idea, i personally wouldnt bother with a spacer, i have one and felt no difference. Add a free flowing exhaust and thats it. I wouldnt bother with a header. You have to watch that you dont shift the power band too high in the rpm range. Having to rev the crap out the the 2.5 to get those 5 added hp doesnt make any sense in a YJ.

Not a whole lot can be done, but what can be done has to be done altogether to increase power output. Not one single component or upgrade will yield a lot of power. The simplest way to get 5-10hp (or rather gain it back) is to go with an electric fan rather than use the factory steel fan. That's the biggest HP gain, unfortunately. The most I've seen someone get out of their 2.5L is about 40hp, but that was with close to a thousand dollars in components. For about $1500 you could swap in an entirely new driveline and be done with the 2.5L.

Or you can get used to driving a 4 cylinder powered brick. It has enough guts to mosey along at 65mph, even on stock gears with slightly bigger tires. Too big a tire will eat up your engines power really quick.

All about that unibody life.

I got more HP by selling it and buying a JK ....But seriously consider re-gearing since your on 33's. That was my plan, but I has to sell it, no room for both.

I went with an electric fan to free up a little power but I am not sure how much power I gained.... seeing some improvement in MPG though so I guess it helped a little....

It is what it is and that's all that it is. Save your money and be glad that it runs good.

You need to increase displacement or rpm. Not much else is very effective as others have mentioned.
