Actually, I need to check the alternator and be sure that it's the stock one before I go and replace it. The PO had a sub system in there, so perhaps he decided to add a better alternator in to run his subs.

I am doing research on replacing my alternator and have learned alot on here. I have a stock one and now with the recent purchase of a winch I need more juice so im attempting the GC swap. What all wires need to be replaced to a higher guage?

From what I was reading, the main thing that you want to upgrade is the line from the Alternator to the Battery, however, it has also been mentioned, in the thread about putting in the Taurus fan mod, which I'm also getting the parts for this weekend, that you might want to read this article and upgrade the "Big 3"

While not directly related to Jeeps, it's still useful. When I do my upgrade, I will make a thread and I'm sure there will be more info from people who know what they are doing much more than I do.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm considering alternators for my 97 TJ with the 2.5. IIRC, the 93 and 97 have the same engine and wiring, so any thoughts on whether the GC alternator in #2 would work in my case as well?

Any more feedback on how this alternator has worked in the YJ's with the 2.5? Did you upgrade the wiring?

Keep moving forward. But keep an eye on history, for if you don't, you are doomed to repeat it.
