2.5L 4cyl to a 4.2L AMC 6cyl

Hi I am new to the jeep world. Just bought my first jeep and looking to build it up. It currently has the 2.5L and I have an opportunity to buy a 6cyl 4.2L AMC engine for $60. I was wondering if the conversion is worth the hassle. Thanks guys!

It involves moving the motor mounts, you will need an AX-15 trans and the transfer case primary shaft will need to be changed.

The wire harness is different also. Is it carved or MPFI?? More issues to deal with.

It is a lot if work but folks do it all the time.

Fund the search box on the YJ page 1/3 way down header right side. There is a ton of threads out there.
