2.5L with 33's with 3.7 gears whos done it??

I have a 1995 2.5l automatic with stock gears 3.7.. I have been offered four 33" Mickey Thompson Baja tires almost new for 250 with jeep rims from a good friend. I'm defiantly buying them I just want to know if anyone has ran these tires on the 4cyl with stock gears and how t ran. I know I will have a loss of fuel economy and power but how bad is it? I can go 70k no problem with 31's please let me know thanks.

Good price on the tires, but I think you will not be happy. I had a 2.5 with 33's and 4.10 gears and 5th gear was just a number on the stick. I could go 75 comfortably. I am wondering if 4th gear would even be useable for you.

I would like to add this is my dd and I don't plan to swap out the Dana 35.. I just wanna know of its a food or bad idea to run these tires and of anyone does what they think. I do drive on the highway often.. Thanks in advance

It's an automatic not standard. I think they came stock 3.7 gears

Most will say you should start thinking about re-gearing and upgrading your rear axle to something like a Ford 8.8.

I don't have any experience with your setup but expect what you have already posted. You can't beat that price and since they are already mounted on Jeep rims it's a simple swap to see how it does. Even if you don't like it you won't have any problem getting your money back out of them.

Ya that's what I was thinking. Try them out for a week and if they aren't bearable I can switch back. Thanks. I'm hoping someone on here has done it

Yes the automatic have 3.73 when I owned my 4cyl TJ with the auto I borrowed a set of 33's from a buddy to see how DD would be and after 2 weeks I could not stand it and put my 31x10.50's back on. So if you DD it and have to get on the highway I would advise against it until you can afford to regear.

As Long as I can go 65k I'm okay with that speed i just don't want to use 40 gal of gas a week

I ran 285/75r16's with 3.73 gears and the 2.5L manual transmission, it brought teh suck! I mean it was drivable, you just had to floor it more than usual. I just did that for a few weeks while working out the kinks with my axle swap, then took it to a shop where they installed my 4.88 gears.

I drove for 6 months on 34" bias Swampers with 4.10 gears, it sucked but those tires were badass.
