2.5 Stroker, anyone run one?

My 2.5l in my 95 bit the bullet, looking to drop in a stroker with some upgrades (inertia ring 4.0TB ect ect) anyone know someone who has one and likes it? Already hearing the chorus of Just drop a 4.0 into it and you'll be happier, but I'm pretty set on sticking with the 2.5 as the base motor. Though every search I do for any info on a 2.5 stroker comes up with either nothing or A friend of a Friend who knows one. I like being different, but theres a limit, just looking to know if anyone else runs one thanks!

from what I read there, you would be wasting time and money.

Here's a link to a guy doing the 505 build on a different site.

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f8/2-9-...up-175544.html

I've been looking but that's too expensive for me. I like my 4 cylinder so I'm going to swap in the multi port motor, add e fan, injector and 4.0 throttle body, and a mopar performance cam I acquired. I'll also re-gear.

EDIT: those links only show the idea, nothing completed with numbers and a final product, anyone?

Frankenstein one together. I toyed with volvo for a while and with some Mitsubishi evo rods, and some SBC pistons, and some crankshaft machine work your 2.3 was between 2.5 and 2.7. Saw some 3.1l setups but that was pushing the Limits of the cylinder walls.

Zealautowerks.com has a compression calc that is helpful. You enter bore, stroke, deck height, rod length, etc. It will spit out a compression ratio, displacement, piston speed, and bore/stroke ratio. Good for playing around with such ideas.

I'm talking with a machine shop the has alot of experience stroking things, but the have never done a 2.5. theres a warranty on the engine if I do through them to rebuild/stroke it and the price between the two is not much different. I know it's not something that's done alot but is it done at all?

What about rebuild and then boost it? That's been done before.

Thats another option, as opposed to full on stroking it, just adding some extras to beef it up.

Yeah I'm sure all the bolt son's will only benefit. Plus have you considered over-boring as well?

Sounds like it's more than a fun enough project to do. I've read rumors of the kit putting out around 140 hp to the rear wheels, which to me is quite worth the investment without having to overhaul the entire Jeep. Really all you need to do (aside from the kit) is fit a better transmission that can handle the power, and you still have the lightweight and relatively fuel efficient 4 cylinder engine that makes 4 cylinder Jeeps so good on the trails.

the trans has been fixed up a bit, and was gonna add in an inertia ring to keep that power moving, if I go stroker its down for probably 6 months to fix all the things I need to fix on it and that list could go on for hours, but also prep it to keep the new motor running well. still no clue at all about what I'm gonna do but that is the tentative plan to have it running by the new year
