2.5 L Throttle body upgrade

OK have a question, Was complaining the other day to one of my friends who is a mechanic about the lack of power in my 1990 yj with the 2.5 L. He suggested changing to a 4.0 L throttle body and this should help some. I'm wondering what's compatible. Does he mean the whole throttle body or just a spacer and what years should I be looking to swap from. Is there any other way with some simple bolt-ons to achieve any better performance. Help a newbie out here I always appreciate some good advice. Working on a budget. Thanks Dave

Since your YJ is a 1990 it should be Throttle Body Injection (TBI) from the factory. This is a proprietary unit that cannot be swapped or replaced. You basically have one big injector that is mounted inside of the throttle body before the butterfly valve, not 4 separate injectors like 1991-1995 2.5L YJ's.
