2.5 to 4.0 swap.. I need some knowledge from you guys on this one

I have a 93 2.5cyl YJ and I'm thinking about swapping out the engine, trans and rear axle with the jeep from this ad http://delaware.craigslist.org/pts/4005831544.html
how hard is it to do this engine/ trans swap? I have mechanical experience but I'm not sure what parts I'm going to need to do this (that are not included in both jeeps). What extra parts am I going to need? If you guys could post a thread of the engine swap that'd be awesome too

You'll need to cut and weld motor mounts for starts. You'll also need to cut the rear spring buckets off and weld spring perches on.

You won't be able to use 4x4 either with that rear axle unless you re gear or swap the front. Instead of the 44 I'd go an 8.8 from a ford in the 4.10 flavor.

Not exactly the answer you wanted but its all I have.

It's doable, for sure. I'm collecting parts for the same swap. Many have done it - search around the forum a bit. Here's a good link to get you started:

One thing that may be an issue is the 2000 4.0L block - I think they changed after 1998 or 1999, so you may have more issues. I stuck with a 1995 4.0L engine to keep things simple.

I also went Ford 8.8, as recommended above, but the Dana 44 would be similar in swap complexity.

If you are getting the drivetrain cheap enough, then it's worth it. It's a big job. Buy a good welder or make friends with a good welder.

You'd be swapping from an obd1 to an obd2 engine so there would be some sensor/wiring issues. As stated above if you stick with a 95 or earlier it might make life easier but I think all of us who own a yj likes a good challenge, remember Just Expect Every Problem
