Yes if the gear ratios ate the same.

Yes, as long as it is the same gearing as the front axle.

The gear ratio for the front and rear must be the same or your drive line is going to try and spin at different rates as the gears in the axle spin. The Jeep came stock with 2 diffwerent gear ratio's depending on the engine. The 2.5L came stock with a 4.11 and the 4.0L came with a 3.07. Many people change the gears when they go to a bigger tire as well. If the axles come out of a yj with the same engine and they are stock then any axle will work.

The 2.5 5 speed YJ's all had 4.10 axles but the 4.0 YJ's had several axle ratios, I believe 3.07 & 3.73. You need to find out what your axles are in your jeep and get one with the same ratio so that when you are in 4wd the front and rear tires turn at the same speed.

I forgot about the 3.73 on the 6's as well. You can't tell by the vin. You need to count the # of rotations. or count the teeth.

If the tag is there. There are also suppose to be tags on the door. Upgrade to the 8.8 Ford axle. They are everywhere, cheap, and way stronger.

If it is just axles or spider gears. Change those parts and you don't need to take the axle out of the Jeep.
