I have a 94 yj 2.5l 5 speed, i work at a larger junk yard and have plenty of 4.0L out of cherokees and grand cherokees.. i have my engine, trans, tcase, driveshafts, radiator out of a salvaged 94 wrangler but i got there to late and they sold the harness and ecm... my question is does anyone know if i can use any other ecm and wiring harness????

Yes you can. The XJ OBD1 and the YJ are the same. Make sure that you are getting it for the right engine. 91 and later under the hood are the same but you will run into complications with the IP wiring between the years. Especially the bulkhead, ignition switch, and cluster. What year YJ are you starting with? Your in Adrian Michigan?

You can use the ECM that is already in your Jeep. All you need is the engine harness from the donor vehicle, it will plug right into your ECM and your good to go.

No, that was what I was saying. It has to be motor to motor for the ECM. The drivers are different

If you need any help let me know. I am downriver and work in Auburn Hills. There have been a bunch of part outs you can get harnesses and ECM from in Craigslist and on the Great Lakes 4x4 forum.

No, there are some wiring differences. Close but no cigar. Your wiring harness will work. You just need to swap the ECU and add 2 injector wires. The auto trans had the nuetral saftey switch so you jumper those pins on the ECU and you should be good to go. No need to swap the wiring harness at all.

If you need help with the injector wires and jumping the nuetral saftey switch I can give you a hand. Maybe we can do a little documentation. I know this has come up before. I havent done a writeup here yet. It seems like it would be a good one to do.
