1994 jeep wrangler yj won't start

I have a 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ that I took out yesterday through mud puddles and now it won't start unless I spray Ether in the air intake. Once the Jeep is started it stays running but when it shut off it doesn't start back up.

It is clean under the distributor cap. I can get it started with starting fluid but when it does run it runs really rough even when I give it gas. It idles really low when I don't give it gas and it eventually dies.
