1992 YJ stalled, cranking but not turning over, replaced TPS per code 24 to no avail

Aloha JeepForumers,

Today I started my 92 YJ (4 cylinder, 2.5L) and went to pull away from the curb and it stalled out. Upon trying to start it again, it would crank strongly but not turn over. I ran the error codes from the check engine light and it indicated code 24 (throttle position sensor issue). I replaced the TPS this evening and no change (the error code did go away though - it isn't throwing any error codes right now).

Here's what I've done in the last 6 months for reference:
- Replaced clutch master cylinder
- Replaced starter motor
- Replaced alternator
- (for this issue) replaced throttle position sensor

I've done a ton of searching on the forums and all sorts of ideas have been floated - cam position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, fuel pump, spark plugs ...

Anyone have any suggestions on troubleshooting for a novice Jeep owner before I bite the bullet and head to my mechanic?

Thanks, as always, for your time.

Phil

check for spark and fuel first. Are you getting both?

Mark - sorry about the novice status but I don't know how to check these things - can you give me suggestions or links to a 'how-to'?

Thanks for your time.

Remove one plug wire. Stick a spark plug in the end gapped to .035" and then ground the plug to metal. Have a buddy crank the engine. Do you see spark?

Do you know what was good about the good old days? I wasn't good, And I wasn't old!

Senators and Congressman should wear uniforms like NASCAR drivers so we could identify their corporate sponsors....
