1990 Jeep wrangler YJ Solenoid wire?

Hi i just bough a 1990 jeep wrangler yj. It has a 4.2 in it with a carter bbd carberator. There were many loose wire hanging down and we found the homes for them except one green and black wire that is conneted to the solenoid on the carberater. It is connected to the solenoid on one side and cut and hanging near the gas pedal now. I have no clue what this is for and in desparate need of your knowledge. Thanks

Is the soliniod by the throttle linkage on the carb? The other end is cut and dangling inside the Jeep by the gas pedal? The only thing I could think of is it was a idle kick up for aftermarket A/C. Pictures would help.

If it's the solenoid on the front of the carb then it's the idle solenoid.
It's normally controlled by the MCU to increase your RPM's a few hundred under certain conditions. It's fed by the MCU (behind the glove box wich in turn passes the signal thru the diode/fuze assembly and then on to the idle solenoid. The idle solenoid also has a vacuum hose going to it too.

I the soenoid you are referring to is on the back of the carb then it's the stepper motor. It's wired directly to the MCU behind the glove box.

You can get on-line schematics at the Autozone website.
Drill down in the "Repair Info" section on the left to get them.
