found the short

the short was the choke wire grounding on the exhaust manifold . i unplugged the ignition switch and hot wired the connectors to get the engine running, using only the red, yellow and green wires at the connector, then with a test light from power to each other wire i probed to find the short on the orange wire it would only light up when the engine was running so i started shaking harnesses and watching the light flicker, the choke wire was routed close to the exhaust manifold and shorting there. thank you guys for letting me post on your forum.

to neal

by the way I don't own a jeep because i'm a proffesional auto technician and I know how much money poeple can spend on keeping these motherless pieces of **** going, therefore i won't own one. and I pay mitchell 1 $215.00 a month for there subcription, not to mention what I have to pay snap-on and overhead on my shop. every now and then in this bussines you get one that will stump you so you do what you can to figure it out, and if that means going online just to run in to a forum that offers a free short term access to a bank of jeepers that i'm sure are a much more informed bunch of laddy's than your self sir. then thats what you do. nothing on here helped me with this issue and i'm not complaining about the forum. In fact I think it's a great forum for the novice. so thank you jeep forum for allowing me some free time to vent, and Neal have fun dude
