1988 Jeep YJ

Hey All

My son just bought a manual 6 cylinder 1988 jeep YJ. It's his first vehicle.

Its body is really rough but seems to run well. Frame is solid. The previous owner has rivetted metal all around the body in the usual places. The hood is in great shape but a different colour right now. He has a replacement windshield and frame as well as a new soft top, and new racing seats. It has a 6" lift and 35 inch tires. The only thing I know of so far it needs emergency brakes and an air filter. (the air box is missing). Anything I should look for, any common issues?
We are looking forward to getting it safetied and him driving it until spring then maybe a project jeep if it seems practical at that time.

P.S. I will post pics as soon as we bring it home.

I will add pics

If it's a 5 speed check to see if the tranny was converted to an AX-15. If not start gathering parts because the pos wouldn't last very long.
