Good job!
I do not understand why you did not bleed the brakes at the wheels.
By removing the master cylinder, replacing the lines and portotioning valve there is no way you could not have gotten air in the lines.

Point well taken. I plan to. It's just that when I removed the old booster and MC, the proportioning valve which wasn't removed, still had fluid right up to the fittings. I bled the master cylinder completely before putting the lines on. When I put the lines on I let the fluid from the MC push all the air out before putting them on the proportioning valve. I had plenty of paper towels under the proportioning valve to catch the fluid. So essentially I didn't introduce any air into the system. I checked to make sure the brakes weren't spongy and they felt fine. I started the Jeep and pressed the brake pedal hard a few times to make sure the lines I made weren't leaking and took it out around the block to see how they were working.

The Jeep isn't a DD so I will bleed them at the wheels just to make sure.

From what I do understand guys is that you can use the MC from an XJ. They have the double diaghram setup. Thats why the booster on the 95 is so big. You don't have to look for a YJ one. There are tons of the XJ boosters out there and usually cheaper. I have 2.....can only use one....the one I don't use will be up for grabs in about 2 weeks if not sooner.....

Definately interested in what you find with the XJ booster.
My reman '95 booster I installed about 2 years ago is taking a dump.
I added some pics from NAPA to show the differences.
How do the push rods attach internally?
Can they be removed and installed in the new booster?

glenn-91YJ, thanks for the inspiration! I bought a remanned TJ booster and a new master from NAPA today. I did the mods similar to what you did, except I skipped adding a set screw. I added some tack welds to the coupler and shaft, spraying down with water after each tack, to avoid melting something inside. I plan to drill a couple holes and plug weld the coupler, just to make sure it will never move.

Just wondering if there was a specific benefit to a TJ dual booster vs the 95 YJ dual booster. Oops, I just read where you said they were hard to find. My local Autozone had to order one, it took about three days and I used my YJ booster as the core... But used would be a bear to locate.

Either way good mod work! You'll love the dual booster.
Did you go with both the 95 booster and master or the factory master cylinder with the 95 booster?

I just yesterday got an 1996 XJ booster and master, looks the same as all the double boosters and is the newer master, $52 at the local pull-n-pay with warranty. I'll be doing the threaded lengthening too. I was originally thinking of just putting the booster on the firewall, like it was in the XJ. But, the clutch master is there and too close, so I have to keep the OEM YJ booster extender bracket and lengthen the booster rod as above.

I reccomend using a a through hole and spring pin to hold the couplinig nut to the booster rod. That way you do not have to weld the on the booster rod and possibly damage the internals of the booster. Since the other end will be cut off you can weld the threaded rod on that all day long.

Edit: here is a pic of what im talking about

Thanks. I wish I knew exactly what the length is of the rod in my '93, and the hole diameter. I'd like to work on getting the new one ready without pulling the old one out of the Jeep just yet, rather just have the new one ready to go on swap day.
