XJ prototype?

Just came across this online.....very interesting....designation XJ001 from 1969....Kind of looks like a Saab Sonnet on steroids

They share a model designation with the XJ, but that's it. They're in no way related to the Cherokee.

Jeep HAS been tossing around the idea of a dune buggy-type car around lately, though-it's spiritual successor is the '08 Renegade Concept.

I knew I could count on you for this one....I had never seen these before tonight....'69 does kind of look like a Sonnet though doesn't it?....I just love old concept cars

and yes, I knew the Cherokee thing was strictly coincidental

Yeesh, not sure exactly how I feel about that one, as the others are much better looking, IMO.
But I'm all for Jeep coming out with a dune buggy/ rally vehicle, have always wondered why Jeep never tried out the rally scene, as it is "off road" and all.
