That 2.8L Diesel only makes 158hp

Diesel are slow accelerating then gas engines . . . so get the same performance as 170-190hp Gas engine the diesel would have turn out 250-275hp . . .

a 325hp diesel 3/4ton has the same 0-75mph as a 275hp gas 3/4ton.

Diesel is stronger but Gas is faster they showed this on TV Power bock's a dozen times over the years . . .

Its a Jeep, not a racecar..... We have flat windshields and don't care about 0-75 (well almost flat for those JK owners).

I want a diesel for:

1. LOW END TORQUE
2. Strength and reliability
3. Slightly better fuel economy
4. LOW END TORQUE

You forgot longevity. The old joke is what do you do with a diesel at 250,000 miles?

Change the oil.

Tdi?

Has anyone seen this? I would love for jeep to put a diesel in something again preferably the wrangler. But for those of us needing a power plant rehab, we might have an off the shelf swap kit in the works to take matters into our own hands. This is kind of vague but maybe we can draw the attention of someone with some insider info to this thread? keen eyes will notice this is a YJ with metalcloak treatment and the EGR not even hooked up yet. Supposedly the stock sheet metal is not a problem, no word on if they will be able to make it legal for the TJ I doubt the JK but who knows.

kind of an off topic question why did the wrangler's 2.5L get its power turned down ? . . .

I'm told the 86'MJ/XJ had 117hp & 135tq , the 87'-90' MJ/XJ had 121hp & 140tq the 91-93' 2.5 was 130hp & 150tq . . .

but i keep reading the Wranglers 2.5 was always detuned 15-25hp ? why is this ?
