BTW, I said in the H3T thread that before Hummer, Wranglers had small tires and Dana 35c axles, but I don't think they were any worse in that respect than CJs, YJs, and the other Jeep vehicles.

Liberty replaced the Cherokee? Since when?

I've always seen the Patriot as the Cherokee successor. Round headlights, and quite capable stock with the offroad package...

It's about as capable as a Subaru Impreza or any similar 4wd small car. Don't mistake it for an offroad vehicle.

I personally like the look of square headlights. They really go with the look of a cherokee. A square vehicle needs square headlights.

kj liberty's are the succesor of the xj, i dont know why XJ owners hate the liberty, they excel at everything that a cherokee couldn't. diesel option, comfort, and gas mileage and i've wheeled past numerous XJ's of the same caliber as my liberty, STOCK!

Let's start with no full gauge package. A smaller (not talking about height) cargo area with the rear seat up. Or maybe the cargo area is about the same but they had to hang the tire outside to do it. Weighs about 700 lbs more. When the Liberty first came out it had the same gas mileage rating as the Cherokee, it did increase later on. I remember Jeep talking about how the 3.7 was more fuel efficient than the 4.0 then they stick it in a heavier, taller vehicle. I've always wanted to see someone drop the Liberty power train in a Cherokee to see how the engine really compares to the 4.0. I wouldn't mind more gas mileage in my lighter, shorter Cherokee. I've driven my Cherokee for 12 hours a day and it is very comfortable. And you might just happen to be a better driver than those Cherokee drivers. The driver does make a huge difference.

Oh. And the Cherokee did have a diesel option back in the 80's. For more years than the Liberty had.

dude, whatever. the liberty isnt for me either. but it deserves respect... at least, a hell of a lot more than it gets...IFS isnt the end of the world.

toyota owners can outwheel us with it on a regular basis. often without front lockers!

to each his own... excluding those compass owners, someone needs to smack them around... the sicko's...
