I think he also forgot to mention the inherent flaws in independent suspension in tough off road conditions not to mention plastic breaks much easier in the woods hitting trees and rocks than metal.

Way better than an XJ, I know what new car I'm gonna buy now.

Actually, if you watched KOH this year, IFS cars are kicking a$$. Yes, they are full built race cars, but it's the same idea.

Go read the specs of the new Cherokee Trailhawk. I honestly think that stock for stock, the Trailhawk will do better offroad than the XJ in stock trim. However, I will never own one due to it's pure ugliness, and the fact that it would cost a billionty dollars to make useful on larger than stock tires.

IFS has always been better for offroad racing, but thats a totally different animal than rock crawling and the like.

You do know what KIng of the Hammers is, right? IFS is starting to take over and there is plenty of rock crawling in that race...

Power is not that great. The torque is close but they fail to mention weight

Wonder what the Trailhawk will cost.

Ralphrlong 03-27-2013 09:22 PM

Whatever it costs, it will be more than the 2000 XJ I have now.

I think I will keep what I have.

Almost hate to say it now but after seeing the video and the new page I'm really leaning toward this now.. was going to go with a patriot, but I'm gonna wait and drive one when they're out.. emailed my local dealer who I've been talking to and asked if they have any prices for the trailhawk yet.. just worried it's gonna be too pricey, my limit is around 30k which was great for a loaded patriot, but I bet they will want top dollar for all the new gizmos .. it's like a computer with wheels...

Long arm custom independent suspensions for KOH is completely different than the short arm IS on the KL.

Well aware but theres a big difference between purpose built ground up vehicles and factory IFS.
