Return of the Islander

No word about neon splash decals yet.
Allpar news link

For $995 you get a blue Wrangler with black and gray accents and a decal. Limited to under a thousand units.

I believe it will also be available in black and white. Toledo news has a short video on it:

Jeep Islander returning in 2010 - 12/24/09 - Toledo News - 13abc.com

Meh, kind of cool, I guess...

Jeep Wrangler Islander

After more than 20 years, the unique Islander theme returns to Jeep (First Quarter 2010).

The limited-edition Jeep Wrangler Islander is available on Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited 4x4 models. Based on the Wrangler Sport model, the Islander’s unique beach theme conveys open-air fun at first and every glance.

Jeep Wrangler Islander is featured in unique Surf Blue Pearl Coat, and is also available in Stone White Clear Coat, Bright Sliver Metallic Clear Coat and Brilliant Black Crystal Clear Coat.

Other exterior features include an Islander “Tiki Bob” decal on the hood with latitude and longitude coordinates that represent an actual location relating to the “Islander” theme of the vehicle, blackside steps and popular Moab 17-inch wheels shod with 32-inch tires.

Inside, Islander’s seats are Dark Gray with Surf Blue inserts, blue stitching and an embroidered Islander “Tiki Bob” logo adorning the seat back. Blue stitching also has been added to the leather-wrapped steering wheel, with MoparŽ rubber floor mats completing the beach theme.

The Jeep Wrangler Islander option package is available at a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $1,120.

That's it. They have been rolling off the line for the last couple days. I don't know if they are shipping them yet.

Aside from the Islander, there's the Wrangler Mountain version.

Does anyone know the significance of the lat and longitude on the hood?

I was hoping they offered more with the Islander than a decal and color coordinated seats. What did the old Islanders offer compared to their standard counterparts?

I remember the old YJ Islanders that had the sunset decal that ran the length of the tub. I think they should have done that with the JK Islander personally.

I think its great that the people in Toledo are proud of the Jeep Factory and that they post new upcoming Jeeps on the news.

Personally I love the way the blue Islander looks. I think I am going to look into one once I get back to the states in a few years. Very nice.

Little more that what they said the suggested retail price was and the cost of the upgrade, unless these guys are ripoffs. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-...fCarsQ5fTrucks

JK owners hardly ever wave. I don't bother with them unless they are sporting some accessories or wave first.
