Wrong on all accounts. The Grand Cherokee diesel is already out, and will be available on dealer lots in the spring. The Wrangler won't get a diesel until 2016 at the earliest. The 3.0L diesel is a VM Motori, not a Fiat, and it's 50-state legal.

Yes it is a VM Motori but fiat is the parent company .

Yes, Fiat owns VM Motori, but Fiat also makes a 3.0L diesel that's completely different than VM's 3.0L. The Fiat version is 4-cylinder, industrial-oriented version that we'll be getting in the new Ram Promaster van next year.

For any interested folk here is what that 3.0 V6 looks like all nuded up. Sits way back thankfully or wifey would have destroyed the motor too.

We're waiting on the small bracket on the end of the left side frame rail. Should be a week or two once they get that.

My local dealer, who Ive bought 2 brand new Jeeps from now, and wheels with us in a local club, promises me it's not in the near future...I just picked up a 2013 JKUR and told him if a diesel comes out in the next 12-months I'll find him and kick his ***...he seems to know something I don't, because he laughed and told me not to worry, it'll be 3-5 years before we see a diesel Wrangler.

...I wasnt joking about kicking his *** if a diesel JK comes out next year though.

A diesel wrangler would be a even better off road vehicle. Water crossings with a snorkel. More torque. And a little better on MPG for DD's.

I want a diesel!!!! Lol. Ill kick his butt too

We have the CRD Wrangler in South Africa. It has been upgraded from 130 Kw to 145 Kw and it is an excellent vehicle with no match. The torque is outstanding and we only fit snorkels for dust protection as the electronics might get wet anyway when you go bonnet deep into water.

I have the the Diesel and will only part for a new diesel.

I've been saying the same thing. The second they put the new V6 CRD in the JKU I'm back in for sure.

Here is a link to the site that markets military Jeeps around the world...the Jeep J-8, which is a turbo diesel. Its also quite bad a$$!

I spoke with the distributor of these this week, and was told the civilian diesel version of these will be a 2015 model. Government entities in the U.S. can buy the J-8 now according to him.
