Awesome. To bad there's no hint at a small 4cly engine. Like the 2.4lt engine that I have. Light and powerful.

Nice.

Now when are we getting a Hemi Wrangler? It's been way to long since they've had a V8 option (not since the CJ7).

Never. Nothing good comes from putting a hemi v8 in a wrangler

Don't get too excited. The Wrangler has been next on the lineup for Jeep for quite a while. Don't expect to see the current 2.8L in North America quite yet-it's not certified, and by the time and money is spent to certify it, a new Wrangler will already be done, or close to it.

This news actually disappoints me a little, because it kills the suggestion that the Compass/Patriot replacement(s), which will probably come before the new Wrangler, will get a diesel.

Join the club, there's a laundry list of awesome things that Jeep has been 'about to build' since 1942.

All I want is a diesel Gladiator Rubicon. I'm confident that it'll happen eventually, but it's a hard wait.

Me too, but with a Manual Tranny! They would have to put the 2.8L in the Gladiator for us to get a stick I guess, never heard of a stick for the 3.0L (which I doubt VERY SERIOUSLY would ever be put in a Wrangler = they have Always been underpowered)

PS: I am not that confident they will build a 'real' pickup, something more H2T-ish is much more likely...

What I wish they would do is to get the new 2.8L cummins out of the New nissan titan, and throw it in a wrangler. I would get rid of my 2.5L in heartbeat for that bad boy. They're saying that engine will get 28 mpg or so. Converted into my wrangler with 4.10's about 24 or so. I'd be one happy camper.

Link to the new engine if you haven't heard.

Im hoping to maybe get an mech eng internship with them next year and smoose my way to getting one :P

That engine is dead, and has been for a few years now. A smaller Cummins for OTH DOT use was canned well over a year ago.

Really? This article is dated 2011 and it says testing will run until 2014.

1st one- 1989 Cherokee Laredo. 12 great years
2nd one- 2001 Cherokee Limited. Got it before they were gone.

I may be confusing it with another Cummins V6, yeah, which was also slated for the Titan at one point. I know that they did cancel a V6 intended for the Titan and other use, and are producing another V6 that's GM was supposed to use in some sort of military/non-DOT implementation.

Either way, I could have sworn that a Cummins-powered diesel Titan was canned, but I may very well be wrong-I don't poke around on Nissan rumour areas much.

You must be thinking about something else, cause this one is an inline 4! Regardless, i just want my car to have a diesel. I don't blame you on the nissan part. Who cares about them anyway?
