Exactly like the CRD Liberty, except for the 450 miles per tank. 600 is maximum in a Diesel KJ.

I test drove an '05 CRD KJ, and it really had some nice torque. If I didn't already own a KJ V6, I would have bought it.

Well what engine will you drop into your Wrangler when it gets old? Me, I'll be dropping in a nice little VM Motori.

No. The I6 Cummins will still be in the 2500 and 3500. The new V8 will be in the 1500.

i work for a company that supplies most of the cummins emgine plants in the US. We are currently manufacturing water transfer tubes (heater tubes) for light duty diesels. We are already getting quotes for the expansion of the Columbus,IN plant for their diesel application for the Liberty in 2010. I wouldn't be surprised if they are on the markety in the next few years.

Great, I can't wait Literally. I want to put one of the (either 2.8 or 3.2) CRD turbo diesels in my TJ. Is anyone doing a conversion? If I can find a totalled KJ, how much of the sensors would transfer over to a TJ or do I need to get a stand alone ECM?

My E320 has the 3.2 turbo-diesel, But Mercedes badged it CDI, and now BLUETEC. whatever, I'd be proud if it simply said TURBO DIESEL like the old school ones did. It is .10 sec faster than the gasoline verson, and 27/37 mpg.

cheers, LT

about the 6l cummins in the jeep platform, a couple wrangler owners have already shoehorned that drivetrain in. granted it was a slightly stretched wheelbase, but a v6 will be much more compact than an inline, and from what i've heard, the R&D departments of chrysler and mercedes were still in kahoots, so the likelyhood of an mb developed diesel winding up in a rubi unlimited or the next gen grand cherokee isn't that unlikely.

I work at the Columbus, IN Cummins plant in CMM. I just had a buddy bid over to the new line. The engines are already being tested...if one fails, he tears it down to troubleshoot. Since one of the test vehicles was a Dodge Durango, amongst a few others such as a Ram-Sierra-F150, I would not be surprised if it landed itself in a Grand Cherokee. They've developed this wing of Plant one with, I believe, like $250+ million. I'm so happy to see more business here. It really sucked when the engine assembly line went to Jamestown, NY-not to mention being laid off for a couple months. Expected realease is early 2010. chao

2010?! Sooner please! I just saw the 2008 Liberty this morning at my local dealer (looked really nice). If they had that with a diesel, I would trade in my currently Liberty today.
